THE VIRTUE OF AGEING GRACEFULLY A BONSAI TREE

It is said that as we age added wisdom, values and dignity becomes part of our personality. But these ageing virtues by a humanbeing mostly does not come instantly upon reaching what was considered as one's old age.  Harnessing these virtues as we age comes along the hardships, struggles and ailments as our body transform and signs of ageing such as grey hair, skin sagging, and other bodily changes appears.  Animals and plants like bonsais likewise goes into such phases intheir lives.  But unlike most plants, apparently the aged bonsai tree carefully nurtured and cared by its grower seems to look excellent, exemplary and distinguished yet elegant.

Bonsai and the wisdom on the lessons of history.

History has taught us the wisdom on the effect of war and its destruction into our lives.  One of the most notable witness to the holocaust of war was this white pine bonsai tree owned by bonsai master Masaru Yamaki.  Mr. Yamaki and his tree was just about two miles from Hiroshima when the US B-29 bomber dropped the first A-bomb over Hiroshima that practically wiped out 90% of everything in the city.

This white pine bonsai was one of the many witness to the horrors of war around it. It has somehow lived and adapted to its life back then despite the toxic, unsightly and unhealthy living conditions.

Another trait that comes with ageing is one being apart from the rest.

The Ficus Retusa Linn Bonsai is probably the wisest among the bonsais in the world believed to have lived for over 1000 years.  Its majestic tall feature has set it apart from the rest of its kin being a dwarf unlike its family of giant trees.

The beauty of the bonsai tree was largely harnessed, cultured and rendered by its grower with nature adding and its distinct touch to its superb look as it age gracefully through time.   The flowers, fruits, trunks, branches and leaves in miniature trees may earn endless appreciations and different insights but still the beauty showcased by the tree represents the beauty of life as it age gracefully through the eye of its caregiver grower who believes and appreciates the experience of living and growing TOGETHER  the life given by the Master Creator.
